Started in El Segundo.
Built one batch at a time.
Lukey Peppers started the way the best food usually does, in a home kitchen with a kid who wouldn't quit tinkering. Lucas Alpert grew up in El Segundo, California, chasing the perfect balance of heat, sweet, and citrus. After a long stretch of experimenting, tasting, and trying again, his Honey-Lime Habanero recipe finally hit the mark.
Word got around fast. Friends and neighbors started asking for bottles, then asking for more. Pretty soon Lukey Peppers had quietly replaced the hot sauces a lot of South Bay families had used for decades. Eggs and avocado in the morning. Marinade for fish on the grill. Drizzle on tacos, wings, or anything that needs a little wake-up call.
This fall Lucas heads to Oregon State University to study food science. Translation, the lab is about to get serious. New flavors are already in the works.
